Screening – Profiling

Screening or also Profiling can be understood as the extrapolation of information about a person, a vehicle, a thing or a circumstance, based on experience and known qualities, which may then refer to specific control activities.

Traveler or passenger profiling is a tool that is intended to help border control officers to profile potential criminal subjects or offenders.

Offender profiling is also known as criminal profiling, criminal personality profiling, criminological profiling, behavioral profiling or criminal investigative analysis.

Profiling techniques include checking individual characteristics to determine whether a person is considered likely to commit a particular type of crime or an illegal act or to behave in a “predictable” manner when crossing borders.
